Local Housing
Build homes people can afford, cut red tape for trusted local builders, and balance the tourism economy with year-round residents.
Michigan's 1st Congressional District
Callie Barr is a military spouse, veteran advocate, mom, teacher, and attorney running to put people first in Congress.
Meet Callie
Callie was born and raised in Traverse City and Cheboygan. After September 11, her high school sweetheart Matt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When Matt came home with combat injuries, Callie became his primary caretaker and advocate. That work led her from the classroom to veterans advocacy, law school, and now a campaign focused on real solutions for working families across MI-01.
Affordable LIFE
An affordable life is about freedom: a stable home, a paycheck that keeps up, healthy food, and care you can reach before it becomes a crisis.
Build homes people can afford, cut red tape for trusted local builders, and balance the tourism economy with year-round residents.
Reward work, support unions, protect Social Security, expand childcare, and invest in small businesses, farms, broadband, and infrastructure.
Stand with farmers, strengthen local food supply, reverse SNAP cuts, and expand mobile markets for communities facing food deserts.
Keep rural hospitals open, lower prescription drug costs, protect Medicaid and Medicare, and fully fund the VA.
The choice
Northern and Upper Michigan deserve a representative rooted here, working hard, and putting local families ahead of Washington special interests.
Great Lakes shoreline, rural hospitals, small towns, farms, forests, and families who expect Congress to work.
Built for MI-01
From shoreline towns and farm roads to rural hospitals and veteran communities, this campaign is about the everyday work of making life here more affordable.
Protect clean water, local jobs, and the outdoor economy that shapes Northern Michigan.
Keep care close to home and stop families from driving hours for basic healthcare.
Back the growers, makers, builders, and shop owners who keep local economies moving.
Fund the VA, honor service, and support the families doing care work every day.
